Is It Really Hard In Finding Love Nowadays?

finding love nowadays

Finding love nowadays is harder than ever.

A large portion of the solution to finding love is to be open to it yourself. Don’t allow baggage from failed relationships in the past to make you cynical about finding love now. Give yourself permission to love – and to risk heartbreak. Without risk, there is no reward. When you find the person who you feel you may be able to love, don’t guard your heart too tightly and let yourself enjoy the process of falling in love.

From a young age, we’re taught by movies, books, and the likes that love will find us—it will just fall out of the sky and we’ll know when it’s right. And as lovely as that sounds, it’s not true for most of us. Finding love takes real work. Remind yourself that it’s a numbers game. The more you put yourself out there, the more people you meet and get to know, and the more you push yourself out of your comfort zone, the more likely you are to find love. However, if you go to the same bars every weekend, resist joining a dating app, and don’t actively take more opportunities to try to meet others, you’re hurting your chances of finding someone of interest.

The rise of online dating sites has contributed to this problem.

This is even more the case where online dating is concerned. This form of striking up new relationships is entirely dependent on our digital platforms or smart devices. People are, because of online dating, literally carrying their dates around with them in their pockets.

People, particularly women, are perhaps more worried about their safety than they’ve ever been before. The rise of online dating and technology in general add new concerns, such as being catfished, receiving unwanted explicit photos, or someone sharing your explicit photos without your consent.

The disadvantages of online dating.

To summarize, there are several pros and cons to online dating. Some of the positives include growing a social network, gaining new friends and having a sense of safety and control. However, some of the drawbacks to dating online include the time, effort, lack of success, unwanted sexual messages, and the risk of people misrepresenting themselves. Nevertheless, in this age of technology, there are so many new opportunities, including online dating for adults in later life. It is important to weigh the positives and negatives and decide for oneself if this approach to meeting people is worth it. Online dating allows access to more people, a sense of control and safety, and friendship, but also requires effort, putting up with peoples’ misrepresentations of themselves, and being willing to face the risks of having unwanted negative experiences or not finding someone.
