1. Express your feelings, Whatever you’re feelings, speak it out loud. Discuss everything with your partner, it doesn’t matter small or big things, you both have to solve it together.

2. Think before doing something, Look, relationship isn’t always perfect. There are days when you both don’t understand each other, but it isn’t an excuse to have hurtful words, and unbelievable actions.

3. Build trust, Actions speak louder than words. You should always show your partner that you love them wholeheartedly, show them efforts, do anything that make them feel loved.

4. Fix your mistakes/actions, When your partner say they don’t like it, don’t do it. Otherwise, it leads to arguments later.

5. Over time, we assume that our partner knows us so well that we don’t need to ask for what we want. What happens when we make this assumption? Expectations are set, and just as quickly, they get deflated. Those unmet expectations can leave us questioning the viability of our partnership and connection. Keep in mind that “asking for what you want” extends to everything from emotional to sexual wants.

6. Make your apology count. It’s well understood that apologizing is a good thing, but it only makes a real impact when you mean it.

7. Listen to each other. Listening is such an important tool in relationships. Sometimes, we find it hard to hear what our partner is saying because we’re so wrapped up in our own emotions. Remember that  communication works two ways. Listening to your partner is the only way to know what’s really going on with them.

8. Avoid jealousy and build trust. Jealousy can destroy relationships, and nothing is less attractive than the green eyed monster. If you’re worried your partner isn’t giving you enough attention, try the open, honest approach rather than acting out or accusing them of looking elsewhere. Building mutual trust is the key to banishing unhealthy emotions and remaining strong together.

9. Be yourself. It’s much easier and more fun to be authentic than to pretend to be something or someone else. Healthy relationships are made of real people.

10. Eat together. Families that eat together, stay together. The supper table is a place for couples and their family members to connect and to receive nourishment both physical and spiritual. Eating healthy food together at a table will not only encourage good family nutrition, but provides a regular, sacred space for conversation and laughter.

11. Never go to bed angry (but do sleep on an argument) There is an old saying, “never go to bed angry”. But is half-past midnight really the time to discuss a problem? If you have a disagreement in the evening, do not discuss things if you are both tired. Set a time to talk the following day, say goodnight, and sleep on it. Things will be much clearer in the morning.

12. Appreciate what you have. Many people end up looking outside their relationship because they think there’s someone out there who is ‘better’ for them. Relationships aren’t about finding the ‘perfect partner’ whatever that means. They’re about allowing the connection you do have to develop and grow. The strongest relationships are usually the ones that have been given the time to flourish.
